Twitter Comedy Club

Yesterday guardian.co.uk ran an article about the Twitter Comedy Club (@tweetcomedyclub) — a group who claims to have staged "the first standup gig to be done purely through the medium of Twitter."

Acts had 10 minutes to tweet in as many 140 character jokes as possible.  The audience followed along by searching #tcgig.  And though some of the schematics were obviously a bit on the clumsy side, the show happened… which is half the battle for any comedy show.

Unfortunately, being that it was British-based, some of the jokes didn't totally translate on this side of the pond.  "My dad used to say, 'Money: you can't take it with you.' Which led to some pretty boring holidays" is far funnier if you are from, say, Sheffield (and used to the British meaning of the word "holiday.")

But the idea of telling jokes within the restriction of a Twitter post is an interesting concept.

Let's see what you got!  Give us your best 140 character joke in the comments.

No cheating.  I'll be counting every letter… and space… and hashmark.  But seriously, if you can make us laugh with a pound sign, I'll give you huge props.
