Spiderman's Sam Raimi to Direct 'World of Warcraft' Movie

Variety reported yesterday that Sam Raimi, best known for directing the Spiderman franchise, has signed on to direct Warcraft, a live-action movie based on the video game World of Warcraft.
Variety states: "The plan is for Raimi to…shoot the picture after he completes work on 'Spider-Man 4,' which gets under way early next year."
Um… Let's do some math. That means Spidey 4 begins shooting early 2010. IMDB has that flick slated for a 2011 release. Meaning Warcraft might not hit theaters until 2012.
Didn't WoW hit critical mass back around 2006? That means the movie version will arrive around 5 – 6 years beyond that — a perfect amount of time for 13 year old computer nerds to become image conscious college kids, yet nowhere near enough time to trigger fond nostalgia.
