Sears Website Gets an Unwanted Adjustment

As if Sears didn't have enough bad publicity by being Sears, yesterday word quickly spread that someone had "hacked" Sears's website, placing the above Kenmore Gas Grill into a new "Grills to Cook Babies and More -> Body Part Roaster" department.

I put the term "hacked" in quotes because this wasn't your typical Wayne's World rerouting-satellite-signals-to-a-limousine hack job.  Turns out some very simple vulnerabilities with the Sears site made it so that anyone with a sick mind and a little computer knowledge could have executed this newsworthy defacing.

Poor, Sears.  Still stuck in the 1950s.  Apparently they have an entire warehouse dedicated to storing the one computer they use to run their website.  The Sears repairman was up all night replacing punch cards to fix the problem.

As if things couldn't get any worse, Sears tried to censor news of their online errors and has since unleashed the furry of the Reddit online community.

I think it was worth it just to get this gem (see it after the jump)…
