Hand job

Were this just a flash of her palm from far away while you were watching a concert, you’d be none the wiser. But since stills like this one sit for hours in scrutiny on the internet, we see the real secret behind her powerful lyrics. And I always thought she sang from the heart…

Put a fail like this up on EatLiver or another photo-fun site and it's sure to get a lot of attention. But don’t fall for it right away. This could be an elaborate ploy to throw us off any suspicions of lip syncing.

the-other-apollo-11-speech

One of the awesome applications of the Internet is its ability to help archive the present.  Additionally, it can provide a powerful outlet for primary historical documents of yore as well.

Earlier in the week, Gawker ran a scanned copy of a speech presidential speechwriter William Safire had prepared for Nixon in case the astronauts of Apollo 11 — Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, the first men on the moon — became stranded there during their historic mission.

You can see the beginning of the speech above.  Click on the image to see the whole thing.

The document has been floating around the web for some time, but the Gawker post has seen it gain renewed interest.

And amazing timing too, because the Tosh.0 Blog has just obtained another exclusive lost moon landing speech, outlining what Nixon should say in a very different scenario.  Take a look after the jump… Read more »

I'll admit, I was fooled by that super long slide jump a couple months ago. But should I be fooled by this long basketball shot?

They have two camera angles and it seems real, but the internet has fooled me before. I was really hoping that slide was real!  Why do you deceive us, internet?  Why!?

What do you guys think? Is the basketball shot fake or real? VOTE!

Why are they laughing? This is funny to you and me because we're watching it on the internet. If this were actually your house, your futon and your window — you'd have to be 11 or 12 kegstands deep to laugh at this disaster.

I guess this starts off as a decent idea. What else are they going to do with a metal futon that their drunk friend peed all over? They're a dime a dozen on Craigslist. Your parents just get you a new one every school year anyway. Futons are worthless. Why not throw it out a window to a marvelous annihilation below? It just doesn't work as well when the highest point in your town is the second story of a frat house.

Right before launch, the cameraman says, "Make sure you push it, though, so it doesn't crack our air condit-" Very typical of a student to not have his priorities straight. That air conditioner won't do you any good with a gaping hole in the side of your house.

really

I discovered this picture of a penis-shaped chandelier after opening a link this morning from my guy friend who just "couldn't get enough of it."  Really?  I get it — it's ridiculous and it looks like a dick.  But what is the obsession with all things "D," guys?

Between Accidental Dong, a blog devoted to phallic objects of all kinds, Awkward Boners, a blog devoted to you know what, and Lady Gaga, the internet is chock full of "downstairs units."

Doesn't the saying "You've seen one, you've seen them all" apply to all things shaped like the male form? Apparently not online.

Money can't buy happiness

Earlier in the year, Microsoft came out with a program called SongSmith which automatically adds background music to human singing. So, a solo singer in the elementary school play needn’t have the lame-o accompaniment of the music teacher on a piano anymore. Computers can automate that menial task with MIDI sounds instead! A stable version of the software came out this month.

Screw auto-tuning your voice – just auto-tune the music in the background to match whatever horrible pitch you happen to spew out. I can’t wait till the day I see text at the beginning of a music video that credits Microsoft as a producer.

I was recently turned on to SongSmith because it made this Soulja Boy song tolerable. Another truly staggering application –- SongSmith can take great music and make it even better. Check out a few more mash-ups after the jump.

Here at the Tosh.0 Blog, we're not trying to save the world or anything (I think that's pretty obvious) but the above video which has exploded on Break (no pun intended) is just plain wrong.

Airbags are intended to protect life, not destroy it.  And I don't even see what is so funny about the video anyway: You can't even see what happens to the squirrel.  It's not like he parachutes back to Earth to avenge those who wronged him.  For all intents and purposes he just disappears.

Lame.

maxim

Yesterday, Maxim.com posted an article entitled "100 Twitter Accounts Every Guy Should Follow."

It's a hell of a list, especially if you're looking to clog up your Twitter account with a bunch of childish nonsense, celebrity babble and toilet humor.

In fact, the list seems to serve better as a list of accounts every guy would want to unfollow.  Allow me to elaborate by drawing from their list:

#80. Hugh Hefner — Great idea to follow this guy… if you get off on reading about the mundane activities of a horny geriatric.  No one reads Playboy to get an inside track to Hugh's thoughts.
#79. Ashton KutcherReally? Guys should be following Ashton Kutcher??  Guys??? Welcome to being out-of-touch, Maxim.
#57. NHL — No one follows the NHL anymore.  Even on Twitter.
#55. NASCAR on Fox — Alright, this is a small point of contention, but Maxim says "accounts every guy should follow."  Not every guy lives in the south, okay?
#9. My Drunk Texts — Aka, "Someone else's Annoying B.S."
#4. Farted — Maxim says this is "An account that does nothing but re-Tweet fart-inspired Tweets. God bless America."  Yeah, that sounds awesome.  Can't wait to have that in my feed.  Idiots.
#3. Borat — Oh wait, Maxim?  Is it 2006??
#21. Maxim Magazine — Uh, no thanks.

Why don't you just follow @danieltosh?  That's really all you need.

If there's anything that qualifies as an internet fail, this video is it. If doves weren't a sign of peace it would be one thing, but this guy insists on throwing this thing in the air and having it fall straight back down, jinxing the whole peace ceremony.

How could he not know the bird was dead!? This must be some part of a prank show; he does look just like the Afghani Ashton Kutcher. I wonder how many Twitter followers he's got.

I've watched this video a total of seventeen times in the last 30 minutes. Just another video I'm thankful that someone put online. Thanks for the laughs, dead bird guy.

Or should I say Ashton?

Alone

Rough day at work? We all know how that is. Some of us drink when we get home. Some of us exercise to blow off steam. But not very many of us seek solace in a red plastic friend who's missing one of his eyes. Even a swing or a slide I would understand — but that monkey-looking thing is firmly planted in the ground. Boring.

Little does this fellow know — his image is on websites everywhere. Thousands of people are chuckling at him from their homes. I wonder if he'd still feel as lonely if they were all laughing at him right there in the park.
