New York Times Ads Can Spread Malware
You know those malware ads that show up on porn sites? (Quit acting like don't know what I'm talking about.) Well, it turns out that the same nasty ads sometimes appear on the New York Times website. In other words, the world's most popular news website is as desperate for ad dollars online as every single illegal torrent site. Here's the NYT's warning/apology from Sunday and some details at All Things Digital.
I put my own version of the NYT ad above — both to show you what it looks like and so that I can track how many Tosh.0 readers are as stupid the NYT readers who would click on a blatant piece of ad spam.
I thought the print version of newspapers were supposed to be desperate for advertising? If they can sell malware ads online, I bet they could make a chunk of change selling anthrax ads in print.
