Supposedly 'Greatest' House Sketch is No Dice
Yesterday evening, a pencil drawing of the guy from House (pictured right) hit the front page of Digg. It's called "The Greatest Pencil Drawing of Hugh Laurie as House [PIC]".
Am I missing something? You can't just submit a really good drawing to Digg — that's not the point. If I submitted a really good cupcake, would I make the front page?
But that's not even what angers me. It's not that good of a drawing.
In the description, it says, "Ignore the left eye." I hadn't even looked at the picture yet and the author was already throwing me qualifiers. Not a good sign. Next time try, "The Greatest Pencil Drawing of Hugh Laurie as House Except Left Eye [PIC]". At least be upfront about it.
Then I clicked through to the image and realized that I judged his title/description wrongly. My bad. I think he meant, "Ignore the entire left side of his face." Hugh's temple is bulging, there's a dent in his jaw and his nose is crooked. This deviantART reject must've bumped the light table when he moved on to tracing the other half.
But to be totally fair and get some perspective on the word "greatest", I searched the web for other Hugh Laurie sketches.

And after that experience, I changed my opinion. Including the lazy eye, it is the greatest pencil drawing of Hugh Laurie as House on the internet.
Until I submit my cupcake…
