Top 25 Songs of 2010 Mashup

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 29, 2010 at 12:00PM

So there's this dude DJ Earworm who for the past few years has done what he calls the "United State of Pop" where he takes the Top 25 Hits according to Billboard Magazine and uses them to create the ultimate annual pop mashup.

Problem is pop music is basically like candy for your ears.

Now, I think we all can agree that an occasional piece of candy or two is great.  But if you try to eat 25 pieces of candy at once, you're going to puke all over the floor.

The moral: I watched the video above and puked all over the floor.

The Most Retweeted Tweet of 2010

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 15, 2010 at 4:00PM

Twitter has released their list of the "10 Most Retweeted Tweets of Twitter in 2010."

#1 on that list: Comedy Central's own Stephen Colbert with his BP oil spill related tweet "in honor of oil-soaked birds, 'tweets' are now 'gurgles'" posted back on June 16th.

Believe it or not, yours truly also made a Twitter top 10 — the 10 Least Retweeted Tweets of Twitter in 2010 — with my tweet "Kitty got his food early today!" from June 9th.

It's an honor just to be ignored.

The Top 100 Videos of 2010?

Posted by: Carly Hallam | December 13, 2010 at 3:00PM

Gawker compiled the top 100 viral videos of 2010. In under 3 minutes you can get a year's worth of pranks, cats, dancing, bloopers?and even some Daniel Tosh!

The "Top 100" is clearly very subjective. But from a completely objective standpoint, I'm sure you'd agree they missed at least 99 clips from season 2 of Tosh.0.

You Ready For More Snow?

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | February 9, 2010 at 4:00PM

Oh, you're one of the 250 million people who don't live in the United States' Mid-Atlantic region?

Well, F U!

This is snowmageddon, people!  This is the end of warmth as we know it!!

This is the kind of crazy storm skiers dream of, and we all know skiers are sick freaks!  Have you ever heard Bode Miller open his mouth??  He's a sick freak!!

Did you watch the "Snowlapse" video above.?

Teddy bears are dying!  Being buried alive in snow!  That's how bad things have gotten.  Innocent stuffed animals, destroyed for the pleasure of that devious bitch, Mother Nature.

So, yes, this kind of thing happens all winter, every winter north of the 45th parallel.  But people can't live up there!  Well, except for Minnesotans.  But we all know Minnesotans aren't real people…

They're sick freaks!

Here's to 2010

f-u-teacher

The first Monday of 2010.  Can you feel the love?

The ironic thing is this class failed their group project on Of Mice and Men for a lack of teamwork, but for their "getting a picture of us flicking off our teacher on the Internet" project, they did just fine.

Our Last Post of 2009

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 31, 2009 at 1:00PM

happy-2010

It's been an amazing year.  We began this blog back on May 13th, 2009, in advance of what people anticipated would be the greatest show in television history.

Then, on June 4th, Daniel Tosh brought laughter into the world with the debut of Tosh.0 on Comedy Central.

We aired 16 episodes in 2009 and have another 25 slated for 2010.

New episodes begin Wednesday, January 13th on a new day and time, Wednesday nights at 10:30 pm / 9:30 c.

But I don't want to end the year with a shameless plug, despite how hard I just tried.  I want to leave you with the video that started it all.  Our first post ever on the Tosh.0 blog: "Where Amazing Happens Parody."

Enjoy.

And last, but not least, I'd like to thank you!  Here's a toast to all of our viewers, readers and fans for making 2009 such a successful year for all of us.

Thank you and happy new year!  We look forward to entertaining you again in 2010.

How To Make Your Own 'Best of the Decade' List

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 29, 2009 at 10:31AM

top-of-the-decade

Are you envious of all these "Best of the Decade" lists that everyone keeps coming out with as we approach 2010?  Are you disappointed that you really weren't paying attention to what was going on in any particular subject for the last 9 years, or even the last 119 months?

Do not worry!  You can create your own "Best of the Decade" list too!  Here's how in 4 easy steps:

  1. Pick your topic.  Don't worry if you are far from an expert on that topic.  That's not important, as you will soon see.
  2. Think of 6 things that can make your Best of the Decade list off the top of your head.  Typically, these things have happened in the past month, or, if you were really paying close attention, the past year.  Worried that your list will seem too biased towards recent events?  Don't!  Most people are just like you, and can't remember sh*t.  This is the "recent memory bias" and will keep you looking like a genius.
  3. Do some really half-assed research to find 4 other examples.  As long as these four examples have happened before 2008, it'll make your list look like you've put some effort into it.  The number 4 is what I like to call the "moron's majority."  Though it is far from an "actual majority," from a moron's perspective, it'll be enough to make your list look like the majority of the items on it aren't from last week.
  4. Space out your list like this: Old, recent, recent, old, recent, recent, old, recent, recent, old.  See how the careful spacing of your old examples compared to the new examples provides the illusion that your list is unbiased??  That's the "moron's majority" in action!

Congratulations!  Despite having barely any knowledge in your chosen subject matter, you have just made your own "10 Best of the Decade" list!

Easy right?!  Go make your editor proud.

Big Daniel Tosh News For 2010

tosh-logo

Yes, Daniel unofficially broke the news a couple weeks ago on Twitter, but now it's official: Tosh.0 is coming back for a 2nd season on January 13th, 2010.

But not only that, 2010 is practically the year of Tosh as Comedy Central  announced earlier today that "the network has signed Tosh to shoot an original one-hour stand-up special to be subsequently released with extended material on DVD and CD and a national stand-up tour."

Holy crap!  Is that enough Tosh for you?

Here's what our friends over at the CC Insider Blog had to say about the developments:

Clearly, 20Tosh is going to be one of the Toshiest years ever here at Toshedy Toshtral.

"Daniel is extremely talented, incredibly funny and a perfect fit for our audience," said [Comedy Central President Michele] Ganeless. "We?re excited about the new season of 'Tosh.0' and look forward to showcasing him on all these platforms."

"COMEDY CENTRAL is making all my dreams come true, now if they could just cure my disease? technically it's more of an infection," said Tosh.

Be sure to tune into the season two premiere of Tosh.0 on January 13 at 10:30pm / 9:30c. In the meantime, the Tosh.0 blog continues to churn out new posts.

Yes.  Definitely check out that Tosh.0 blog thing, whatever that is…

A Decade of the Internet: Looking Back at the 2000 Edition of 'The Internet For Dummies'

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 8, 2009 at 2:04PM

dummies

As we approach 2010, people are beginning to reflect on the past decade.

How much has the Internet changed in that time?  Things move so fast in the digital age, it can be hard to quantify.  But sometimes something comes along that helps put everything into perspective.

A few weeks ago at a flea market, I found a copy of The Internet For Dummies: 7th Edition— the edition they published in the year 2000.  The book is so out-of-date their website doesn't even exist anymore.

At the time, I'm sure it was a helpful reference, but in retrospect, this book is 360 pages of pure hilarity that speaks for itself.  Check out what the 2000 edition of The Internet for Dummies had to say about a number of important online topics after the jump…
