CAPTCHA

Matthew Baldwin has a proposal: Internet Access Captchas to keep "certain people" away from the Internet entirely. You know, the dumb ones.

I'd say I'm a fan of this idea but I don't want our blog numbers to go down. ZING!

I'm not talking about you guys, of course, you're all super smart. I'm talking about the other stupid people Google leads here who were just guessing at the spelling of "to shay".

Could this be what we have to get past in order to post crap like status updates on Facebook in the future?

I'm laughing out loud now– but it's only to cover my fear about the possibility of this being real at some point. Once we tell computers how to love, then we're giving them everything and suddenly we're going to find ourselves in a bad movie with Will Smith! I can't handle that! I hate Will Smith movies! Ahhh!

We've talked about Captcha — those "random" word generators — in the past.  But they refuse to be silenced with their attacks on our subconscious.

By the looks of the above, it appears Captcha has now joined the liberal media elite, those snooty bastards!

You never know what will pop up when you ask a computer to randomly generate words for you, which is exactly what happens when CAPTCHA generates text for you to type to prove you are a human.

Pixelated Geek recently ran an article entitled "More CAPTCHA humor" showing some funny examples they found.  But CAPTCHA humor can strike anywhere.  It actually hit close to home when I was trying to post a comment on this very site and CAPTCHA gave me this mildly racist phrase:

Redskins AGAIN?!  Sounds like the refrain from early American pioneers moments before a slaughter.

There's been a movement to get sports teams to change names that may be insensitive to Native Americans.  Removing said words from CAPTCHA would probably be a decent precursor to achieving that goal.
