Kanye Tweets Finally Make Sense

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | August 4, 2010 at 12:00PM

There's a new meme in town…  Taking Kanye West tweets and using them as the captions to New Yorker cartoons.

It just goes to show that if you take two things that suck and put them together, sometimes you get something that only kind of sucks.  Like how M. Night Shyamalan and Mel Gibson combined to make Signs.

See more of Mashable's favorite Kanye meets the New Yorker cartoons here.

The Laptop of the Future

Posted by: Carly Hallam | February 18, 2010 at 7:00PM

I'm looking forward to the future where I have a floating home, alien babies, and a iPad-TV screen-speaker-yoga mat-computer that I can roll up into a tube and sling onto my back like an architect.

What I am most excited about it, however, is the possibility that in the future, a soundtrack of techno-elevator tunes will just play at all times.

And I'll have a groovy bounce in my step as I hop into my flying car and head to my job at Spacely Space Sprockets where I'll use the speakers in my Rolltop computer to drown out the sound of my tiny tyrannical boss, Mr. Cosmo Spacely.

F' Yea.

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | February 16, 2010 at 4:00PM

After what seemed like years of Rageguy (aka FU Guy) — well, at least "Internet years" which are kind of like dog years — a meme is finally emerging that takes the opposite stance.

FU Guy was all about pent-up rage due to little frustrations.  F' Yea Guy is all about feeling good about our little successes.

You can find a ton of "Fuck Yea." images on the site Know Your Meme, which, coupled with the fact that I am talking about it here, probably means the meme is officially past its prime.

But not before I contribute one of my own above.

Fuck yea.

A Real FFFFUUUUUU

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | January 5, 2010 at 2:48PM

fu-guy-real

Some guy on Reddit going by the name Brewtalizer created an image of himself as the FFFFUUUUUU guy (aka Rageguy) as seen above (click for larger).

You remember Rageguy, right?  The angry face at the end of so many poorly drawn MS Paint cartoons about simple problems?

Well here's a a cartoon for you:

Pane #1: You enjoy reading FFFFUUUUUU guy cartoons.
Pane #2: You see that someone has created an image of themselves as Rageguy.  That could be fun.
Pane #3: You look at it.  It's the creepiest looking thing you've ever seen and now you can never look at Rageguy cartoons the same way.
Pane #4: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Make Your Own New Yorker Cartoon

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | November 18, 2009 at 6:00PM

new-yorker

Remember your childhood, paging through your mom's latest copy of the New Yorker, staring at the cartoons, thinking to yourself, one day I hope I can draw single panel comics for this magazine?

No?  Alright, maybe you didn't grow up in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Regardless, if you've ever dreamed of making your own vexing, smarmy New Yorker cartoon to prove that you are better than everyone who dares look at it, now's your chance.

The New Yorker online has taken their caption contest one step further, allowing users on their website to help build the cartoon itself as well.

Be forewarned though, just because you can make a cartoon, doesn't mean you will make a good cartoon.

I do wish New Yorker cartoons had more passing AIDS references though.  That would class up the joint.

A cat who only eats lasagna!!! Now that's a silly idea. Too bad Garfield already did it.

The real star is these "Lasagna Cat" videos from the guys over at Fatal Farm. If you haven't seen them before, here you go:

Cartoon Hidden Messages

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | August 4, 2009 at 11:00AM

Like a child stumbling upon the Dead Sea Scrolls and scientists using all of our modern technology to restore them and uncover their meaning, some tech-savvy Popeye fan recent discovered that if you slow down the audio of the cartoon mouse in the above clip, you get a secret (albeit irrelevant) message.

Using scrap audio for these kinds of things was probably pretty common, and with the ability to slow audio down now easily within the grasp of anyone who owns a computer, who knows what else we'll find.

Did you known the Road Runner's "beep beep" when slowed down actually transmitted information to troops fighting in the Korean War?

Oh, you didn't?  It's because I made sh*t that up.
