Hey, Kansas!  I know you don't have much going for you.  Your basketball team was ousted from its #1 ranking and and you still share a border with Nebraska, but come on… renaming your capital city from Topeka to Google?!  That's just sad.

But alas, it's true.  In an attempt to pander to Google and their promise to install new ridiculously fast Internet connections in a number of random cities, Topeka, Kansas will be known as Google, Kansas until the end of March.

As reported by CNN:

"The unusual move comes as several U.S. cities elbow for a spot in Google's new 'Fiber for Communities' program. The Web giant is going to install new Internet connections in unannounced locations, giving those communities Internet speeds 100 times faster than those elsewhere."

What does Topeka need extra-fast Internet speeds for anyway?  You can't download beachfront property!  You can't log on to the respect of international leaders!  You can't stream a better life for you and your family!

But I guess you can't fault Topeka for trying.  They just don't know any better…
