This is a very important Blog Awards category for my lovely WITards. So how does one take the title for Most Intense Commenter?

Fano Boss wins because 1) he makes lots and lots of comments on posts, 2) he cares deeply about his first amendment rights, and 3) he leaves me hearts. Hey, sometimes it pays to be the teacher's pet.

Honorable mentions go to Charles Logan Taft (because even our digital guys in New York know his name), and Sean Ferl (because he actually suggests Fan Favorites that I can use.)

A big thanks to all of our dedicated commenters. You are all clever and eloquent, and I deeply appreciate when you call me a cunt or a stupid bitch. It means a lot!!

Overnight we performed a much needed update to our commenting system. Unfortunately, as anticipated, all existing comments were erased.

Terrible, right?� Having read every single comment ever left on the blog, I know each one was a mini-masterpiece.

But that's the bad news.

Here's the good news.� Think of every post as a fresh white canvas.� Now is the chance to go forth and defile our life's work once again.

Mashable reports that "Popular gadget site Engadget has recently shut down comments. It?s a temporary measure, it says, but the blog took it because the 'tone in comments has really gotten out of hand.'"

According to their official announcement on the topic, Engadget claimed that comments had "become mean, ugly, pointless, and frankly threatening in some situations… and that's just not acceptable."

Um, Dear Engadget–� Have you been to the Internet before?� That is basically the definition of comments.

Part of my job is to look over all of your guys' terrible comments.� If I freaked out every time I saw something mean, ugly or pointless, I'd be in a nonstop hissy fit.� Especially the "pointless" part.� Do you realize how pointless some of your comments are?� Seriously??

But we love it!� Comment all you want!!� Who the hell cares?!?!� I mean, part of me thinks "Mean, Ugly, Pointless" could be the new Tosh.0 motto.
