To Consider or Not to Consider
Merriam-Webster defines the word "consider" as "to think about carefully."
I've considered many things. In times of poverty, I've considered getting a real job. That never happened. In times of depression, I've considered taking my own life. Thankfully, I'm still alive. After waking up on a sidewalk, I've considered giving up drinking. Yeah… well…
My point: It's one thing to "consider" something and a completely different thing to take action.
That's why when Mashable reports on a recent Neilsen study discussing what people have paid for online and what they would consider paying for online, I don't believe that just because lots of people would consider something leads to the conclusion that "the findings might seem like good news for old media companies."
Something makes me think that if you asked the people who have already paid for content online how often they considered stealing it, the results would look far less encouraging.
