It's Earth Day, Bitches!

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | April 22, 2010 at 2:00PM

Today is Earth Day!  And not just any Earth Day: Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day which means the Earth is 40 years old today!

Congratulations, Earth!  Somebody's over the hill!  Don't go out and buy yourself a Ferrari because of that midlife crisis!  Hahahaha!!

For those of you who don't know anything about the planet you live on, Earth Day marks the discovery of Earth by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22nd, 1970.

Before then, no one knew shit about anything!  It was like all of our textbooks were written by the Insane Clown Posse.  But Gaylord stepped in and said, "Yo!  We live on the Earth, bitches!  And don't you forget it!!"

So if you think Earth Day is stupid, just ask yourself, is the name Gaylord stupid??  And while you're pondering on that fact, go plant a tree.

Earth yo!!!  Pick up your garbage!

I'm going to be spending my weekend wondering why this is a real thing.

Think you can explain it? Tell us in the comments.

If Earth Had Rings Like Saturn

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | November 20, 2009 at 1:00PM

We spend a lot of time poking fun at stuff on the Internet, but some things you find are just cool… like the animation above.

The video shows what one animator believes the Earth would look like if our planet had rings like Saturn.  I'm not a master of astronomy, and I'm not sure of this person's credentials, but the way the whole thing is put together, it's a pretty convincing visual display.  And quite stunning as well.

The one problem I see, though, is that on Earth we don't constantly have Schubert music playing in the background.  Somehow I feel like this whole presentation would be less impressive with "Empire State of Mind" as the soundtrack.

Though if there is one person who I think could help us get rings around the Earth, it would be Jay-Z.  That guy can do anything!  Or so he says in his raps.  Now's your chance to prove it, dude!
