Holograms.

Microsoft put in a patent for holographic meetings they call "Virtual Office Devices." Here's how MS describes it, (in simple terms):

A holographic component can generate at least one holographic image within a virtual meeting space, wherein the holographic image can virtually represent at least one of the portion of data related to the virtual meeting or a user associated with the virtual meeting.

They don?t actually have the technology to produce the holograms yet, but the patent is a start.

Even with all these crystal-clear descriptions and diagrams, I can't imagine how these meetings would actually play out. Do you still need a physical meeting room for a holographic meeting? If five people have a holographic meeting in the middle of the forest and nobody is around to see it, did the meeting actually happen?
