Daniel Radcliffe Learns An Important Lesson About The Media

Posted by: Carly Hallam | October 11, 2010 at 12:00PM

Don't imply anything you don't want the media to turn around and use as a headline.

For example, Harry Potter told UK magazine Dazed & Confused:

?I said to a friend the other day, ?Dude, I?m doing a show with dancers. I?ve got to be single.? He was like, ?Don?t sleep with anyone in your own show. That?s a mistake.? It?s good advice. But I?m not sure I?ll stick to it.?

The Huffington Post turned that interview into the headline seen above.

I missed the part where he said he's "looking forward to sex with Broadway dancers". Oh, right. Because he didn't actually say those words.

No matter. Every dude at any given point in their life is looking forward to sex with Broadway dancers. Maybe someday! So the headline is accurate nonetheless.

Fun With Politics

First and foremost: in no way do we condone playing drinking games or drinking in any form here on Tosh.0.

But the rest of the internet does, so here's a fun drinking game posted on The Huffington Post that lists when you should drink when listening to President Obama deliver the State of the Union Address. My favorite part?

Pelosi turning into a seal? Ummmm, maybe Huff Po should leave the jokes to us.

Unless we're too drunk, of course. (We're not).

Seriously, HuffPo?

huffpo-rap

Take a few guesses what articles are popular on The Huffington Post right now?

If you included "The Most Ridiculous Rap Lyrics of All Time" on your list, take a well-deserved bow.

Yup, the left-leaning news website has sunk to what may be a new low by tackling the most important of liberal issues: "How far can we capitalize off of white guilt?"

Apparently, helping to propel Obama into power wasn't enough.  They also want to be in charge of determining whether Chingy's lyrics were more ridiculous than Young Jeezy's.

Soon to be surging on Drudge Report: "The World's Worst Line Dances."

EnoughingtonPost.com – Unclaimed Domain Name of the Week

Posted by: Chris Lesinski | September 10, 2009 at 4:00PM

Arianna Huffington

This week's unclaimed domain:

EnoughingtonPost.com

.

I don't care if it has 22 million visitors and more backlinks than anyone. I don't care if Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton have written there. I've had enough of the Huffington Post.

Here are some potential concepts for EnoughingtonPost.com:

  • A mock-up of the Huffington Post homepage style that actually links to Drudge Report items instead.
  • A single-serving site that randomly redirects you to a print newspaper subscription order form.
  • A J.Lo movie fan site.
  • Or, just buy it and forward it to the Tosh.0 Blog.

Last week, I cheated. The unclaimed domain name was just too good. I couldn't let it enter the hands of some traffic-hoarding fool. So, I posted the unclaimed domain, gave it 45 minutes, and then pulled the trigger myself. I'm a domain name junkie, too! I'll get something on tmzzzz.com this weekend.

On 4th of July, Palin Threatens to Sue Internet

Posted by: Chris Lesinski | July 6, 2009 at 1:32PM

Palin Twitter iconThis weekend, Sarah Palin announced her resignation from her position as Governor of Alaska. The media wasn't distracted by the loud fireworks and drunk people — the news spread wildly. Palin felt slighted by some of the blogosphere's speculations about her motivations and she tweeted about some of her plans to fire back in court.

The Wonkette wrote a huge blog post on Sarah Palin's 'net-threat tweet, but here are the relevant few:

Honestly, this is what Sarah Palin twatted on Saturday Night, July 4th, Independence Day, in America.

Her link goes to (of course) Scientologist nut and sub-literate weirdo Greta Van Susteren?s blog on FoxNews.com, where Greta has helpfully (?) posted seven pages of legal threats from Palin?s lawyers, although you can?t actually read beyond the first vague page of whining bullshit, because Greta/Fox can?t figure out how to operate the Internet.

But, from other websites, we gather Palin?s lawyers plan lawsuits against MSNBC, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Washington Post, individual bloggers in Alaska, and other such anti-Palin forces such as ?rain on your wedding day? and static cling.

If the Wonkette is seeming particularly snarky here, you're correct. They're bitter about not being invited to the lawsuit.

Respectful Commenter of the Week: TomDegan

toshheader_commenter2

David Letterman made headlines earlier this week due to his spat with Sarah Palin over an insensitive joke he made involving her daughter (which daughter, we're still not clear).

Luckily, on the web, all sensitivities are out the window as demonstrated by this week's respectful commenter, TomDegan, who had this to say about Sarah Palin in the comments of an article on The Huffington Post:

Sarah Palin reminds me of a middle-aged, drug-addled heroin-addict who would prostitute her fourteen-year-old child just to get a fix.

When you don't have a national television show or an entertainment career to worry about, you can feel free to sling that vicious slander.

Go get her, Tom!  You're our Respectful Commenter of the Week!

Guess The Celebrity Breast Implants

Boobs

Sites like the Huffington Post are proof of the journalistic tact that a really great blog can achieve. Their "Guess The Celebrity Breast Implants" photo gallery yesterday got enough traffic to single-handedly fund the New York Times for a year and provide every subscriber with a new Amazon Kindle.

If blogs are the future of newspapers, the future of basketball is definitely SlamBall.
