DragonCon 2010 Creates Epic Photo Gallery

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | October 21, 2010 at 11:00AM

I'm not sure what DragonCon is, and I sure as hell am not going to do any research to find out, but what I have determined is that whoever ran the event must have known they were creating a collection of images the likes of which the Internet has never seen before.

Yesterday's big viral hit from the DragonCon photo collection was this animated GIF featuring people posing with Luke Perry.

But if you dig deeper into the archive, there are all sorts of gems (like the Summer Glau photo op above).  It's really a never ending treasure trove of LOLs.  You never know what you're going to find.

Well, you kind of know what you're going to find: Awkwardly dressed geeks posing with pseudo-celebrities!

Happy hunting!

Facebook Pics Are Getting an Upgrade

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | October 4, 2010 at 11:00AM

Stalking people on Facebook is about to get a lot better. Eight times better to be precise.

No more squinting to make out tiny pictures.  Facebook announced they've started "rolling out support for print-quality, high-resolution photos."  The new format will allow images to be up to 8 times larger.

The implications are many.  Remember how you recently stopped crotch-stuffing?  Yeah, time to start riding that train again.

Women, those cute poses might be enough to make you look attractive with a mere 720 pixels, but at 2048 pixels you're going to need to focus on the two "makes" — makeup and make-ing sure you stay away from people with cameras.

That's right, thanks to the new and improved Facebook we can all revel in being the hideous trolls that we are.

Flickr Crosses 5 Billion Photos

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | September 20, 2010 at 12:00PM

Mashable reports that photo sharing service Flickr crossed the 5 billion photo mark!

Want to take a guess what the 5 billionth photo was?

I'm gonna go with "some kinda bullshit" …and then look above and that's the photo and I'm right.

Basically, Flickr is like having to sit through all the boring photos my girlfriend took while in South America times five.  And though you have to commend them for the sheer volume of photos they've come to host on their site, at some point you have to sit down and think, we're using energy to store all of this?

I mean, even with traditional photos eventually you cleaned out your basement or set your house on fire to collect insurance money or something.  With "users upload[ing] more than 3,000 images to the site every minute," the real accomplishment would be getting back under 5 billion.

I vote we start by deleting the 5 billionth image.  There's already plenty of images of that crazy building online.

An Angry Kid on a Segway

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | August 12, 2010 at 5:00PM

Redditor whiskey9 thankfully decided to share with the world this photo he snapped of an angry kid riding a Segway down the street.

We've all been there, right?

After her third morning beer, mom's too drunk to drive, but she's grounded you from riding your bike, so she sends you off on the Segway to pick up cocktail umbrellas to make those midday daiquiris look more festive.  But you forgot today is the day of the annual boat parade where everyone stands on the walkway of the bridge and stares at the lake, so you're stuck having to stay on the road and try to dodge traffic.

So annoying!  I totally get why he's so angry.

Videogum Photobombs the Sh*t Out of Comic-Con

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | July 26, 2010 at 11:00AM

Gabe Delahaye, the comedic voice behind one of the web's best blogs, Videogum, apparently went to Comic-Con this year with a mission…  Photobomb the shit out of it.

With 45 photobombs to his name, he's created a veritable 101 course in ruining photographs.

But wait…  Is it "ruining" or "making a thousand times better-ing"?

Because honestly, if you think a guy dressed up as a ninja is dumb, imagine how he would feel knowing someone totally ninja-ed the shit out of him by stealthily sneaking up behind him and photobombing his ass.

Public Service Announcement

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | June 21, 2010 at 11:00AM

On Tosh.0, we feature a lot of things that may or may not be racist — we usually let you decide.

But in case you've never felt what the evil hand of racism feels like upon your shoulder, I give you this picture.  (You can click on it to get a bigger view.)

See all those unwelcoming eyes staring you down, whitey!  Or I guess you could be black.  Or Indian.  Or Eskimo.  Regardless, that's what racism feels like: All eyes on you, just because you're different.  So take this as a public service announcement: Racism isn't fun.

Though I guess this photo doesn't work if you're Asian.  Then it's more like how everyone would stare at you if you farted really loud.  So I guess this is also a public service announcement against loud Asian farts.

Same thing really.

Today's Fun Game of the Day

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | May 25, 2010 at 4:00PM

This guy took a picture of himself every day from 1998 to 2006 and edited them together into a 100 second video.

But here's the game!  Guess the exact moment where this guy started habitually smoking pot.

My guess is 1:27.  What do you got?

The Sketchiest Santas

sketchy-santa

'Tis the season… of people trying to milk funny Santa pictures for big-time blog hits.

The latest: SketchySantas.com, where we found the above photo.

I'm all for equal opportunity Santas, but seriously, dude, you can't take off the shades?

Hopefully all that kid wants for Christmas is a kilo.  Judging by that tank-top and how skinny he is, he probably does.

Incredible Photos Made Without Photoshop

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | November 19, 2009 at 3:00PM

Say-NO-to-Photoshop-Do-Forced-Perspectives-holding

Bored Panda recently posted an article on "25 Incredible Photos Made Without Photoshop."

They open with the following question: "Aren?t you tired of all those digitally dog-on-moonmodified photoshopped pictures?"

To which I must respond: Hell no.

In fact, let me raise another question: Has a dog ever been to the moon?

No.  But would I want to see a dog on the moon?

Hell yes.

Oh, and thanks to Photoshop, I can.

Check out the photo to the right.  It's a mutha-f"in' dog on the mutha-f'in' moon!

What do you think of that?  You think it's totally awesome?  Well so do I.  And you know why it's able to be totally awesome… because of Photoshop.

The perspective photo at the top.  Lame.

Photoshop makes our fat celebrities bearable to look at and turns the primary source-based reality of history into a total freakin' mess.

Long live, Photoshop.

Give Any Photo the CSI Effect

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | November 17, 2009 at 11:00AM

csi-effect

Mocking CSI on the web for all their ridiculous tech flaws has definitely gotten as much of a cult following as the show itself.

Now, you can give any image on the Internet the full CSI treatment… stupidity definitely included.

Just go to the CSI Image Enhancer main page, enter the two images you want (one to enhance from, the other to enhance to) and then, and this is the fun part, type on your keyboard furiously like those idiots on that CSI TV show.  The app does the rest.

Here is one of the site's examples if you are too lazy to choose your own photos.  (Trust me, you're too lazy.)

Is this lame?  Yes, it totally is.  But rest assured, it's not as lame as the show CSI.  Everyone knows CSI Miami is 1000x better!
