Did you fall for the latest Twitter phishing scam?
Yesterday, I received one of the direct messages that stated:
"somebody wrote something about you in this blog here"
This is nothing short of a brilliant scam, and here's why: Twitter is all about vanity. It's about getting people to follow you to read your relentless stream of 140 character brain farts.
So if you receive a direct message that "somebody wrote something about you in this blog here," obviously most tweeters are going to say, "Of course they did! I am so awesome and important and everyone is constantly reading what I tweet and talking about me that of course someone is writing about me on a blog! I should go read that ASAP and reveal any personal information that anyone asks me for to see these things that people are saying about me!"
I didn't fall for the scam, but I'm not going to lie and say I didn't click the link.
I'm an important, awesome Tosh.0 blogger!! People are probably writing about me on blogs all the time!!!!
