Tay Zonday, the mastermind behind 2007's viral hit "Chocolate Rain" has released another song on YouTube called "MUSICOLIO" and let's just say it's no follow-up to a video with 49 million views.
I am afraid Tay has fallen into that trap that so many celebrities do. They make one blockbuster and then they're all like, "I'm Cuba Gooding, Jr., I have an Oscar. Check out my latest film, Daddy Day Camp. It's a sequel to an Eddie Murphy comedy!" You know that trap? Yeah you do, Nicholas Cage.
I hope Tay can find his Chocolate Rain magic again before the Internet dismisses him as a one-hitter.
T.Z. should stick with the deep manly-voiced singing we all know and love him for. Also, if he's figured out how to breathe without leaning away from the mic then I'm just not interested in watching.
If you thought an old man reading Miley Cyrus tweets was a great idea — how 'bout old Swedish women reenacting internet memes down to a tee? It's one Swedish ISP's way of celebrating their 10th anniversary.
But ultimately, this video is disappointing. They've got Afro Ninja (notice the impeccable "sniff" she does). They've got Tay Zonday. They've got Chris Crocker. They've got Bad Day. They went to all that trouble — and there's not even a nod to Grape Stomp Lady?
Fail. I'm never using a Swedish ISP. Comcast might try to throttle my bandwidth, but they totally would've given Grape Stomp Lady a nod.
Reh Dogg's internet hit "Why Must I Cry" makes us hearken back to the Tay Zond-days. Here's how Reh Dogg describes the song:
This music video is about a man whom befriended a fatherless ghetto boy. The boy stole from him time and time again. This video also speaks of a man who fathered twins with a woman he felt no love for. This song is highly emotional and it's not about how well the singer is it's about expression of hard times.
"Why Must I Cry" needs a little upgrade, just like the one Dr. Pepper granted to Mr. Zonday. That's why he's this week's web redemption. I smell auto-tuning…
