Tron Guy Has Some Competition

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | February 3, 2011 at 1:00PM

Tron Guy Jay Maynard is a favorite of ours here at the Tosh.0 blog.  Primarily because he's achieved fame without really doing anything other than wearing a Tron costume.

Every year, millions of people dress up in costumes and never get any recognition for their efforts.  But there's something about that Tron costume…

So I'm surprised it took so long for someone to realize that if they dressed their dog up in a Tron costume and called the thing Tron Dog, they too could bask in the niche market that is Internet Tron costume fame.

And for those of you who take the time to watch this video and ask yourself why is "Tron" Dog playing Donkey Kong and Excitebike, obviously you're missing the point that Tron Dog is inherently idiotic, and therefore, has no reason to conform to any sort of logic.  Such is the beauty of Tron costume fame: It follows a logic unto itself.

But, alas, It'll probably be a short run in the limelight for Tron Dog anyway.  Tron Cat is already on his heels.  And though Tron Hedgehog yields no image results yet, I have faith the Internet will make it happen.

Ah, screw it.  I'll just handle it:

Tron Guy Reviews 'Tron: Legacy' and No S***, Guess What, He Loves It

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | December 17, 2010 at 3:00PM

Nearly three decades after the original Tron movie, the sequel, Tron: Legacy opens this weekend.

The movie has received mixed reviews, but Wired Magazine decided to get an expert (if somewhat biased) opinion from none other than Tron Guy himself.

So what did Tron Guy think?

From Wired.com:

I walked in, expecting to be blown away both from what I?d seen before and from what I knew about the production.  I was not disappointed.

Okay, so obviously the guy who has based his entire public identity around Tron loves to see more Tron, but there had to be something he didn't like.

Turns out there was…

[I was] really, really disappointed Disney didn?t ask me to have anything to do with the sequel?s production or marketing.

Oh come on, Disney!  Tron Guy can act!  Didn't you see him in our Web Redemption!?  He totally made out with the hot babe and everything.

Frankly, I doubt I'll see Tron: Legacy, but I bet you this, Tron Guy: I'm guessing our version of Tron on Tosh.0 was better than any two-bit Disney sequel every could be.

Stay strong, Tron Guy.  Stay strong.

Is Megan Fox Hot Enough For You?

Here's the context on this image…

Eh, F' it.  You get the point.  No woman is hot enough for Tron Guy.

Web Redemption: Tron Guy

Posted by: Mike Pomranz | October 8, 2009 at 9:26PM

Many people may look at Jay Maynard, better known as Tron Guy, and think he's watched one too many science fiction movies.  But long ago, the man in the Tron costume decided he was going to "have fun my way" which launched him into Internet history.

So what to make of such dedication?  Watch as Tosh gives Tron Guy another chance to prove that his costume is more than just spandex crossed with hockey equipment.

Want more redemption? You can head over to our Web Redemptions category to catch all the redeeming moments you may have missed.

Tron Guy Forced to Sell Airplane

Posted by: Chris Lesinski | June 24, 2009 at 1:01PM

Tron Guy has to sell his plane because of the bad economy. Wait ? Tron Guy has an airplane? A matching airplane?

(Note the delicate hand placement.)
Note the delicate hand placement.

He's selling it the only way he knows how. On eBay. In the description Tron Guy says, "Everything you see in the pictures is included." Luckily, he later clarifies — the Tron costume is not included (it's a collector's item).

If you win it, you might have to drive him home after he drops it off.
