
AWorldOfTweets.com is an amazing site that allows users to visualize where in the world people are tweeting and how popular tweeting is in different areas.
I let the site run for about 10 minutes this afternoon allowing it to compile where different tweets came from during that period. The resulting image is seen above.
It's interesting what you can learn by looking at this map. For instance:
- Everyone is asleep on the eastern side of the globe right now except in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia where people must really be into tweeting about how they are banging hookers. (Just a guess.)
- Tweeting is more popular on the eastern half of the US than the western half probably because fields of corn still haven't upgraded to smartphones.
- Twitter isn't very popular in Africa. They must prefer Google Buzz.
