Chick-fil-A is in trouble after a cashier at an Orange County location of the restaurant entered the names of two Asian customers as "Ching" and "Chong."

The company quickly released an apology:

"Please understand and accept our confirmation that the inappropriate, and unthinking behavior of a young team member at one of our restaurants does not support any claim or even suggestion of racism at our restaurant."

But is that enough?  I'm not sure.

Here's what I'm thinking: For one day, let's let employees at Panda Express be as racist as they want to white people.

"Here's your order of General Tso's, Mark Smith!  Ahahahaha!"

So Obama had a 50th birthday party last night that was attended by celebs including Jay-Z, Chris Rock, Charles Barkley, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Gayle King. OMG. SOME OF THEM ARE BLACK PEOPLE.

And there was a DJ there that played Motown, ?70s and ?80s R&B, and hip-hop. BLACK MUSIC.

And you know what they ate? Barbecue chicken, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta, and salad. BLACK PEOPLE LIKE BBQ FOOD.

Redditor Jasonxoc recently bought a house and found the above clause in the paperwork.  (Image edited for size.  See the original here.)

Another Redditor had the explanation: It's a "restrictive covenant" that "runs with the land."

He continues: "In Shelley v. Kraemer in 1948 the Supreme Court decided it will not enforce racial covenants on real estate, therefore old covenant's like [this one] no longer have any effect."

As a blogger who has never studied real estate — or had the money to buy a house — I didn't know anything about these sort of clauses, but apparently racist covenants aren't that uncommon on older houses.

So there you go.  Some of you might live in racist houses.  The racism is just buried deep and suppressed.  Like your brother who doesn't like to drive through the "inner city" or your grandfather who hates the show Seinfeld.
